The Williamson County 4-H Shooting Sports Club meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the Williamson County Extension Office. The Extension Office is located at 3151 Inner Loop Road in Georgetown.

The different shooting disciplines meet at different times. We suggest that each new member attend two practices for each discipline group before they decide to stick with one or the other. You can actually do all of them, but it gets hard to dedicate each Saturday to shooting sports, however many of our members do this. The discipline groups practice generally as follows:

1st Saturday

9am

Shotgun (at Capital  City Trap & Skeet)

1st Sunday

3pm

Muzzleloading

2nd Saturday

9am

Pistol

3rd Saturday

9am

General Rifle (or Fun Rifle)

All of the practices are held at the Austin Rifle Club range except as noted and we share most of these sessions with the Travis County 4-H Shooting Sports Club.

Archery practice is currently being scheduled. We are trying to establish a regular schedule at a new location and will post that information when it is available.

Dues for the club are $5 a member. But since we use the Austin Rifle Club facilities, each member who participates regularly (except Shotgun) must also maintain a Junior Membership in the Austin Rifle Club, which is $10 a year. The family can also join the club at a higher price and list the member as a Junior member on the family application. The difference is that family membership allows you to go out to the range to shoot anytime you would like to, but junior membership only allows shooting under the 4H or other youth program. As for competitions, there are a lot of them. They are NOT required, most are open to anyone registered in 4-H Shooting Sports and most are done at the State level. There are some County and District specific events, but most are State events. We participate in Postal Matches where we shoot events for record scores and then send in the scores or targets to a State Coordinator who compiles the scores from across the state and posts results.  Awards are presented and every participant is recognized.  In the past, we have participated in Extravaganza at the 4-H Center in Brownwood, March Madness in Travis County, Hot Box in Brown County, multiple Shotgun events around the state, the Texas 4-H Shooting Sports Games in San Antonio, and even had some members represent the Texas State team at the National 4-H Shooting Sports event.
